Here’s how the IDA has helped some major
companies grow their business in Orange County, N.Y.:
LEGOLAND New York
Merlin Entertainments, the multinational conglomerate that is second only to Disney in drawing tourists, received a 20-year, $88.64 million payment-in-lieu-of-taxes incentive from the Orange County IDA to build Legoland New York, a $500 million theme park in Goshen, N.Y. The resort will open in 2020.
Crystal Run Healthcare
One of the largest medical practices in the Hudson Valley, Crystal Run Healthcare, has received IDA support for multiple healthcare facility locations. The IDA’s support has included a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement, and nearly $2 million mortgage and sales tax abatements for Crystal Run’s 65,000-square-foot office building in Newburgh. Additionally, Crystal Run received a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes incentive, resulting in $4.4 million in savings over 10 years plus exemptions from sales and mortgage recording taxes for its Monroe location.
Amy’s Kitchen, the popular Petaluma, Calif.-based maker of organic vegetarian meals, is building a $106.7 million food processing facility in Goshen, N.Y., with the support of the Orange County IDA. Amy’s Kitchen received $7 million in sales tax and mortgage recording tax waivers for the company and a 15-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement.
Mediacom, the ninth largest television and communications provider in the United States, built its corporate headquarters in Blooming Grove, N.Y., with the help of a 15-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with the Orange County IDA. Mediacom also received more than $1 million in mortgage-tax and sales-tax savings.
